Does investing seem complicated to you? You are not alone. One of the biggest reasons people don’t like to invest is that it appears to be complicated.
When I first started investing over 20 years ago, I felt the same way. However, I find it is best to build knowledge on a simplified understanding. Whenever I am working on an investment portfolio or wealth plan, I start with the big picture, then break it down into smaller pieces.
Even if you don’t plan to work on Wall Street, it’s still good to know the big picture to investing.
In this video, I tell you about the five types of investments you can make… yes, only five. While there are a lot of investment vehicles, there are only five classes of investments. Anything else is just a variation of one of these five. And chances are that you already own two or three.
My industry tends to make investing complicated, but I think Warren Buffett says it best:
“The business schools reward difficult complex behavior more than simple behavior, but simple behavior is more effective.”
